How to Get to La Rambla from Barcelona Airport

La Rambla is Barcelona’s most famous street and it cuts through the old city like a dagger (in a good and bad way) so many hotels are right there – but how do you get to La Rambla from Barcelona airport?

Simple enough – let’s take a look!

Getting to Las Ramblas from the Airport

Las Ramblas is 14.4 km from Barcelona airport – that’s 8.9 miles for my American friends.

Once you’ve got your bags you can expect to get to La Rambla from the airport in about an hour depending on what option you take.

The cheapest option to La Rambla is the overland train from Terminal 2 to Passeig de Gracia then walking 15 minutes. The 60 minute trip costs €2.40.

The train is included in the Hola Bcn discount transport card.

If you’re in Terminal 1 you’ll have to take a 15 minute shuttle to Terminal 2 to get the train. In general, I’m advising only doing this if you’re on a steep budget. Walking down an extremely crowded street with suitcases is no fun.

The best way to get to La Rambla from Barcelona airport is using the Aerobus (€9.75, included in the Barcelona Pass) to Plaça Catalunya, which is right at the top of La Rambla. This trip takes about 35 minutes.

It is strongly recommend to buy your smartphone ticket in advance using the button below:

If you’re in groups or aren’t cost-sensitive then my advice is to get a car with Free Now.

This app service using the city’s regulated taxis is super convenient plus if you sign up using my Free Now sign up instructions you’ll get €5.00 off your first ride.

With the discount the trip should cost around €25.00.
