How to Get to Sagrada Familia From Plaça de Catalunya

Plaça de Catalunya is the main Barcelona tourist hub so its very likely you’ll be going through it on the way to major attractions like Sagrada Familia.

Here, I’m going to show you the fastest way to get to Sagrada Familia from Placa Catalunya (and vice versa).

⚠️  2024 Warning ⚠️: It’s now mandatory to book your Sagrada Familia tickets in advance.

The only way to guarantee your spot is by booking tickets online.

Using the links below, you can even get no-risk free cancellation tickets:

Lock in a time for your dates ASAP or it’s likely you’ll be shut out.

The 3.5 km trip can be tackled in different ways but I recommend using the metro:

There will be a bit of walking involved here, but not much.

First, from the square head to the corner just above the Corte Ingles department store. Follow Passeig de Gracia up one block (on the right side of the street) and grab the Barcelona metro from the Passeig de Gracia stop.

From here, it’s simply a case of grabbing the purple line until you get to the Sagrada Familia stop three stops later.

Make sure to buy your Sagrada Familia tickets online in advance (it’s mandatory to book a time) – and take the Carrer Marina exit of the metro – expect a dramatic escalator exit with Sagrada as a backdrop.

The whole trip should take 10-12 minutes.

Looking to take the bus from Placa Catalunya to Sagrada Familia?

Right in front of the Corte Ingles department store (it’s impossible to miss) you’ll find the Pl. De Catalunya – Rda. Sant Pere bus stop.

Here you can grab the D50 bus – it’ll bring you to Sagrada Familia in just 7 stops. Get off at the València – Diagonal stop and from here it is just a short five minute walk.

In all, the trip between Plaza de Catalunya and Sagrada Familia takes about 19 minutes.

Finally, we have the Bus Turistic which offers the only straight trip between Plaza Catalunya and Sagrada Familia.

This tourist bus counts 45 stops and will bring you to all the best attractions in Barcelona. This is a guided tour and transport all in one.

It’s just three stops to Sagrada Famila, and takes around 12 minutes in total.
