FC Barcelona Tickets: How Tourists Can See the Action

Seeing a Barcelona FC game means seeing the best club in the world.

The spectacle from Messi to the stadium itself isn’t just a dream come true for football fans but a great way to get in touch with Catalan culture.

But to do this you’ve gotta get FC Barcelona tickets first.

Let’s discover all there is to know about how to attend the games, the team’s schedule, and a whole lot of information about Barcelona’s famous stadium Camp Nou.

Barcelona Football Club

Contrary to popular belief the word ‘Barça’ does not refer to the city itself.

This is the nickname used to describe Barcelona FC.

If you’re looking for the nickname of the city then you’ll have to say ‘Barna’ lest you be chewed out by locals or pretentious expats like myself 😛

Barça is the most decorated team of the 21st century and in total counts: 24 Liga championships, 28 Copa del Rey, and 5 Champions League trophies.

Add it all up and we’re talking about one of the most known and loved teams not only in Catalonia but around the world. And one of Barcelona’s top attractions.

The club’s motto is més que un club – “more than a club”.

You’ll feel this immediately as football in the city is really not only a game but a religion, where the Barcelona faithful cheer on Saint Messi and co as they take on the world.

If you want to get on the good side of a local talking about the potency of this team and its long list of stars like Messi, Suarez, and Iniesta is a great way to start.

Sports fan? No Barcelona itinerary is complete without it.

Where to Buy Barcelona FC Tickets

My suggestion is buying tickets in advance through Tiqets.

Not only is it an official ticket resale outlet but it gives you the added convenience of not printing tickets or paying exorbitant prices.

You’ll also get to sit in premium seats behind the goals, the Northern Grandstand (Gol 1, 2, 3), or in the Lateral (1, 2, 3) zones.

Book your seat now

Barcelona ticket prices range from about €10.00 for low end Copa del Rey games to up into the thousands for things like El Clasico (against Real Madrid).

FYI: minors 14 and up are able to attend alone however younger visitors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

If there is no ticket availability here you can look for alternative agents like the following:

Things to Know Before Buying

  • Only minors 14 and over can attend matches alone: any younger and they will have to attend with a paying adult.
  • UEFA rules dictate that foreigners cannot buy tickets for the home team – meaning if you’re going to buy Champions League tickets you will need get them in the visitor’s section or get a VIP/box ticket.

FC Barcelona Schedule and Tickets

The Joan Gamper Cup

Football/soccer lovers will be happy that the sport comes back with a vengeance in August in Barcelona.

The first of Barça’s most important matches of the season is in honour of its founder and former president Hans Gamper. The match involves an invited team from anywhere in the world and the 2019 Gamper Cup guest is the legendary English club Arsenal on August 4th at 8:00 pm.

You may also want to take a tour of Camp Nou stadium to see some of the best sports memorabilia around including Champions League trophies, Messi’s Golden Boots and more.

How to Get to Camp Nou

You’ll find Camp Nou in the Les Corts area at Avenida d’Arístides Maillol 12.

It’s about 8-10 minutes walking from the metro stations Badal (blue line L5), Les Corts (green line L3), and Collblanc (blue line L5 and orange line L9).

You can also reach the grounds with a 20 minute walk from Sants Estacio.

In my article dedicated to Camp Nou I go into a bit more detail on how to arrive, some great restaurants in the area, and some things to do for non football fans.

How do we get back to our hotel after the game?

This is one of the most common questions I get asked.

Depending on where you are and how quickly you want to beat the crowd there are a few options:

  • If you’ve got yourself an Hola Bcn pass with unlimited transport you’ll be able to grab the metro. The metro is open from Sunday to Thursday until midnight, until 2 am on Friday, and runs all night on Saturday.
  • Another option is taking a taxi. Not only is this the easiest way to get to your hotel or Airbnb fast and saves you from long lines at the metro, but with the application Free Now (for either Android or iOS) you’ll get €5.00 off your first ride. It’s also convenient because you’ll be able to pre-book and have a meeting place arranged without the hassle of flagging one down. The cost to most central areas should be about €10.00-€12.00.
  • If you’re a bus person then you’ll have bus 50 and 54 as an option before 10 pm. Both depart from outside the Collblanc metro station and will take you back towards Plaça de Catalunya. There’s also the 67 that runs from Maria Cristina metro. After 10 pm you’ll have to get one of the two night buses heading back central: N28 and N2.

Camp Nou Box Office Hours

At Camp Nou stadium there are 5 separate ticket window areas located in the following sections: 7, 9, 14, Gol Nord, and Gol Sud.

Here are the hours for each:

  • Section 14: from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Saturday (only game days) from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.
  • Boulevard Section (access to 7 and 9): from Monday to Saturday in high season from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, in low season from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm. On game days it’s open from 11:00 am to the end of the match.
  • Gol Nord and Gol Sud: on game days both are open from 11:00 am till the end of the game.

Best Place to Sit at Camp Nou

When any football fan touches down at Camp Nou stadium they’re headed for goose bump territory.

The gigantic 48 meter high, 55 thousand square meter stadium has a capacity of 99,354 which makes it the biggest stadium in Europe!

Since it’s so massive it’s imperative that you find a great spot as sometimes sight-lines can be substandard or even warranting binoculars.

Naturally your position will depend some on your budget, however in general I can say that pretty much anywhere on the second level will offer you a great chance to see Messi and Co get to work.

If you’ve got enough money for level one you’ll see the action up close but keep in mind you won’t have a great view of the entire field.

The Barcelona game tickets sold via Tiqets above are at GOL (1, 2, 3) and LATERAL (1, 2, 3), all offering a great view of the match.

Kick Off in the Comments Below

Again, whether you’re right up front or up in the nosebleeds for most football fans it will barely even matter.

Seeing some of football’s greatest players in one of the world’s great stadiums will provide memories of a lifetime.

If you have any questions about FC Barcelona tickets or anything else related to your Barcelona holiday make sure you get in touch with me below for some custom feedback!

In the meantime start warming up your chants: “Barça! Barça! Barçaaaa!”.

My bank debit card was charged but i never recieved any confirmation email for my purchase. Do you know the exact process to get my tickets; I am going to recieve any purchase code some days before the game. Additionally, i have completed the purchase on the platform as a guest. Please contact me to resolve my problem

Hi Ant, If you bought your tickets on the official FC Barcelona website, what you can do is to call their call centre +34 902 189 900. Cheers :)

Hi Ash, I'm from Canada and trying to purchase tickets for the barca v inter game on the 2nd. I am using the official fcb site but after I enter my personal information, and credit info I get directed to a page that states: "The purchase could not be completed. We have not made any charge on the card." I have contacted my bank and they say it should go through no problem, as I have ample credit limit, and there hasn't been a security hold put on my account. I read a previous comment of yours where you mentioned that you are also from Canada. Have you ever experienced a similar issue purchasing tickets through FCB's site? I purchased some in 2013 no problem, but I had a mastercard then, and have a visa now, not sure if this makes a difference. Also worth mentioning that it was for a la liga match, where as this is champs league. Lastly I attempting to purchase my tickets for the inter game in the gol 2a inferior section (2nd tier of gol nord or gol sud stand) Sorry for the long comment, please let me know if you have any advice. Thank you for your help, Travis

Hi Travis, Apologies you're having these issues... they seem to be quite common now with both banks and merchants all upping their security in light of new fraud etc. I've been away from Canada for awhile now so have a Spanish card. I have never tried to purchase at Camp Nou with a Canadian Card and I have never heard of a specific card being denied just because of the country. I would start by contacting the official site itself and trying to get some info. If not the plan B may be to go through a reputable broker like Viagogo or Ticketbar, but this should only be a last resort. You may also want to try and load a prepaid credit card or try one of a friend. Wish I could tell you more :( Hope it all works out. Cheers, Ash

    Eliot Masters
Hi Ash I am a Barca fan and will be visiting Italy from Australia in December. I am really keen to see the Champions League Inter v Barcelona game in Milan. How do I go about getting away fan tickets for the game? I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks Eliot

Hi Eliot, To my knowledge these away tickets are only offered to club members (season ticket holders) of each away team. They usually buy these tickets following a special link. This means if you buy regular local tickets (or the way more expensive VIP tickets) for this match it will come with the risk of being turned away for not being local. I've heard of one such story, while also heard of others having no problem. Seems arbitrary and weird to mention but I've got to cover all the bases here. Cheers, Ash

Hi Ash, Thanks for all of those informations. It helps a lot. I am planning to visit Barcelona in November and i want to buy tickets for match against Borussia. You said : "UEFA rules dictate that foreigners cannot buy tickets for the home team – meaning if you’re going to buy Champion’s League tickets you will need get them in the visitor’s section or get a VIP/box ticket." So that means that me as tourist can't buy any ticket even if I am Barcelona supporter? And if that is true, where is visitor's section on stadium? I can't get much information about it. Best wishes Vuko

Hi Vuko, This too is bugging me since I was told by an English fan who could not get in, and later found similar info from UEFA but now I'm unable to find it again. I just took a look at the EUFA 19/20 rulebook and haven't found anything. I would get in touch with the club and/or stadium itself to get the info from the horse's mouth. Please let me know how you get on, Ash
      • September 3, 2019 at 5:15 pm
I found some information, that you would not be able to buy tickets in home sectors if you are from the same country as team which Barcelona play against. That is logical, and that is okay. But there are more problems for me :D When i tried to buy tickets, i had to enter my personal data. And when I tried to enter country and phone number i saw that there is no my country on the list. I am from Montenegro. Serbia is not on the list too. And that is very, very strange. I don't know what to do. I send some emails to Barcelona support centers, but there are no answers. I guess that personal data should be completely correct. But i am not able to fill that fields. Do you have any idea how should i solve this problem? Best, Vuko
        • September 4, 2019 at 1:03 pm
Hello Vuko, Same as to you, it seemed very weird to me, that I would not be able to buy tickets for the home sectors if I’m a foreigner. I suppose that Barcelona must have hundreds/thousands of foreign supporters visiting the stadium. Can you please share where you find more specific information about this issue? Thanks! Martin
          • September 4, 2019 at 2:24 pm
Hi, Martin As i found on the internet there is constraint if you are from the same country as away team. If you are not from from away's team country you can buy tickets for any sector. I am not 100% sure about this, but i guess that is the rule. Best wishes, Vuko

Hi Vuko, Wow this gets even stranger! I assume you're trying to book on the official site yeah? I just tried to do it also and my home country of Canada was in the list. It seems strange that they would outlaw some countries and not others. I wish I could tell you something but I'm afraid all I can say is that you'll have to wait for them to get back to you with an explanation. I have certainly never heard of people from Montenegro not being able to buy tickets!
          • September 4, 2019 at 12:14 pm
Yeah that is on official site. So strange. There are almost every country, every island in the world. And there is no Montenegro, and there is no Serbia too. I don't have a clue why is that. I am waiting for the answer. Ticketbar is completely reliable site? Can i buy tickets there? Or do you know some other reliable site for buying tickets? I don't want to miss this match. But i don't know what to do.

Hi Vuko, I've been sending people to Ticketbar for over 5 years and I have never heard any complaints of them not being legitimate. You can definitely think about buying on there. Other than this there are some reliable ticket sites like Stubhub or Viagogo. Please let me know how you get on, Ash

Hi, Looks like this page needs a few updates, including the 2019-2020 schedule (shows that the season is over above). Looking for tickets for February 2nd, 2020. Ticketbar doesn't list that game. What is the best way to get tickets for my family of 4? Thanks so much for this great site! Will be using some of the resources for sure as we plan our vacation for February!

Hi Brian, Thanks for the kind words. And yes indeed... I'm pretty slow getting some of the secondary pages updated this summer, been so busy with the maintenance and all the interaction :) I'll have it up soon but in the meantime I would look at the official site to grab tickets :) Cheers, Ash

Official site only has VIP tickets. Is this because the game is so far away? I've heard something about season ticket holders releasing their tickets. Maybe this is why?

Hi Brian, This is strange as it's not a premium game and shouldn't be sold out. I imagine though that they will be released closer to the date for the same reasons you mentioned and also because they do allow for a certain amount of walk up tickets per match. I would keep my eyes peeled :) Ash
  • August 14, 2019 at 4:41 pm
Hi Ash, Is FC Barcelona site the best place to purchase tickets, or are there other sites? How likely will tickets be available to purchase on the day of the match? Will they be cheaper or more expensive? Thanks again! Best, Connie

Hi Connie, It's the best place indeed, though many times they'll only be available for some of the lesser matches. On the official site they should be the same retail price on match day, but keep in mind for the big matches they will be along sold out. Other sites for a good look are Ticketbar (above) or Viagogo. Cheers, Ash

I want to get tickets for the Aug 25, Barcelona vs Real Betis game. I need 4 tickets in the 1st lateral - ideally in grandstand but other side ok too (i don't see 1st grandstand an option.. do you know why?). On the team website, they only promise pairs of two tickets and doesn't seem like they let you pick which particular seats - just the category. Is there any website where one can buy tickets for specific seats?

Hello. We are now In Barcelona. We have the tickets to Joan Gamper 2019 for the entire family. Before the game we want to see Valtteri Bottas win Hungarian F1 and Kimi to Finnish runner-up. What is the Best Sports Pub to do that?

Hello, I was wondering if I would need ID to go to see a game. Does security check for ID or would a ticket be enough?

Hi Rob, It is annoying isn't it? Perhaps this is a way they can prevent riotous assembly during the matches... that said, I am not sure what's going on with the official site - it does appear that the 1st grandstand is sold out. Or maybe it's simply a technical issue. If you're still getting this coming up, unfortunately I think your only option is to do to a broker and to my knowledge some reputable ones are Viagogo and Stubhub. With Viagogo there is a 'we want to be seated together' option and I see there are lots of tickets available. Cheers, Ash

Hi, Im wanting to see Barcelona vs Real Betis 25/08/19. Do you know when the tickets will go on sale for "Standard Seating" or have they already sold out completely? May have to purchase 2 tickets through Stubhub :/. Thanks, Reece.

Hi Reece, I'm not quite sure whether the match is sold out or whether it has yet to be put on sale... my guess would be the latter since the schedule was just announced recently and it's not a premium game. I would put my name in the hat on the ticket list here and then all else failing check back here (I'll be putting links to second hand places ASAP) or of course Stubhub but we all know they come at a premium. Ash
      • July 14, 2019 at 3:16 pm
So due to the match not being a big game you believe I will have a chance in getting tickets? My first time in Barcelona so really hope I can get 2. What other things would you recommend visiting in Barcelona? Spending 3 days there in August. Thanks, Reece.

Hi Reece, You should definitely have a chance... it's just a matter of time! Just keep your eyes out on the official page because they should become available. As for the other things... this entire site is dedicated to that ;) I'd recommend checking out my list of top things to do as well as my 3 day itinerary post. If you still haven't found what you're looking for please let me know what and I can customize the advice a little further. But for now, not knowing what you're looking for it's a bit tough to speculate :) Cheers, Ash
