Do You Need Advanced Tickets for the Picasso Museum Barcelona?

For art enthusiasts planning a visit our fair city, one question often arises: Do you need advanced tickets for the Barcelona Picasso Museum?

In this blog post, I’ll explore the ticketing process of the Picasso Museum, providing valuable insights on whether or not you should purchase tickets in advance for a seamless experience.

Do You Need to Buy Barcelona Picasso Museum Tickets in Advance?

To make the most of your visit to the Picasso Museum, it is highly recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

While it is possible to buy tickets at the museum’s ticket office, there are several advantages to buying your Picasso Museum tickets in advance:

  • You Skip the Lines: Purchasing advanced tickets allows you to bypass large queues, saving you precious time and ensuring a smoother entry into the museum. Barcelona is a popular tourist destination, and the Picasso Museum attracts a significant number of visitors, particularly during peak travel seasons. By having your tickets in hand, you can avoid potential waiting times and start exploring the museum promptly.
  • You Guarantee Entry: The Picasso Museum operates on a timed-entry system, which means that a limited number of visitors are admitted during each time slot. During busy periods, such as weekends and holidays, it’s likely these slots will be sold out and you’ll have to come back later – or risk not getting in at all.
  • You Can Plan Your Visit: Planning ahead by purchasing tickets in advance allows you to structure your Barcelona itinerary more efficiently. You can select the date and time that best fits your schedule, ensuring that you have ample time to explore the museum’s extensive collection without feeling rushed. It also provides the opportunity to align your visit with any temporary exhibitions or special events happening at the museum.

If I purchase Barcelona Cards for my family group of 7, can I/ should I also reserve a timed entry ticket at the Picasso Museum? If so, where and how would I do this? Or do I just use some sort of special line at the museum? Am I guaranteed entry with the card? I want to make sure we are able to visit this incredible place!

Hi Amy, Unfortunately the pass can't be used to book time slots in advance, but you will be fine unless you by chance show up on a free museum day - which is Thursday afternoons or the first Sunday of each month. For these times advanced booking is mandatory. Otherwise, I don't see any trouble for you! Cheers,

Hi Ash, does this mean that with the Barcelona Card I am guaranteed entry to the museum without having to make a reservation? (of course excluding Thursday afternoons or the first Sunday of each month).
