Barcelona Attractions Map
In my Barcelona tourist attractions map you’ll find the city’s main sights denoted with yellow stars, secondary attractions with beaches and museums in blue, and bars and restaurants in brown and red respectively.
Also keep an eye out for shopping centres in orange, parks in green, and airport transport locations in purple.

Barcelona Neighbourhood Map
To get your bearings I’ve created a tourist map of Barcelona neighbourhoods.
This is a great jumping off point for finding a value hotel, Airbnb, apartment, or hostel. I’ve gone into this in depth in my list of the best areas to stay in Barcelona but first it’s best to take a look:
A good rule of thumb when looking for lodging is:
- Attractions: Eixample
- Nightlife: The Gothic Quarter
- Local charm: Gracia
- Beach proximity: Barceloneta
- Food + Art: El Born
- Hipster vibe + affordability: Raval
The Ciutat Vella has three parts from left to right: Raval, the Gothic Quarter, and El Born.
Most airport transport like the famous Aerobus takes you to the purple ‘C’ button at Plaça de Catalunya, the city’s most central square. From here you can connect to the metro.
The other neighbourhoods not mentioned have cheaper accommodation as they’re less central.
Barcelona Metro Map
With 6 lines connecting the entire city you’ll be 20 minutes from anywhere. Almost every major attraction is served by the network save Tibidabo Amusement Park.

Hey, I am traveling for a work trip alone.. staying at Hotel Mont Blanc, My ? is, my flight leaving is 7:55 am and the hotel said that the aerobus is only a short walk from the hotel, but I will be walking around 4:30 am by myself. Should I just get a taxi from the hotel to airport, or taxi to the aeorbus or do think I will be safe walking. Also, I notice when you buy your tickets online, you have to pick a time.. the problem is I am not always sure when my class will end... are they strict on your entrance time? Thanks Cheryl

January 14, 2020 at 9:17 pmTeam MemberAshHi Cheryl, I wouldn't worry about the walk... it's so close, just around the corner. The odds of anything happening are slim. Don't believe the hype online, it's a safe city to walk even at night. Also... you have to pick a time for what? For the Aerobus using this link it's not necessary. Other attractions which utilize time slots are an unfortunate reality though they do give you a 15-30 minute grace period depending on the place. Cheers, Ash

December 7, 2019 at 7:41 pmHi Ash, I love the detail and effort you have put into your blogs. Really helps an outsider to get a clear understanding of how to go about in the beautiful city. We are a family of 4 (1 of 16 years old) We are staying in Barcelona4Seasons near sagrada familia. I wanted to know the best way to reach the accommodation from the airport. Also, since we aren't planning on using hop on hop off bus, I'm not keen on buying the city pass. I haven't prepared the complete itinerary yet but we do plan on visiting sagrada familia and parc guell, picasso museum. Should I buy the Hola Bcn card in this case? T10 as I know covers 10 trips and since we are in the city for 96 hours i think we might take more than 10 trips. We will be spending Christmas in Barcelona, so if you have any suggestions as to where we can spend our Christmas and visit Christmas markets please let me know.

To get to your hotel... honestly if there are four of you the price will be negligible so I'd just grab a taxi. You'll be glad you did if you've got a lot of luggage especially. If you're doing more than 10 trips I would indeed get the Hola BCN as it's super convenient :) No need to get the City Pass if you don't have the Bus Turistic included. Cheers, Ash

From Plaça Catalunya to Hotel 1882 you'll need to walk up the Passeig de Gracia metro station (about 5 minutes) and grab the purple line to Sagrada Familia. From here it'll be a short walk. July 17, 2019 at 5:04 pmTeam MemberAshHola Tuyet, I would grab the Aerobus to the terminus stop at Plaça Catalunya, walk the 200 meters to Urquinaon metro station, and take the yellow line of the metro down to Barceloneta. From here it'll be a 10 minute walk. The alternative is to substitute the metro with a taxi (there are tons in the square) if you're not keen on lugging heavy bags around etc. As for the Picasso Museum... the Thursday free entrance is not bad at all since it's mandatory to buy your tickets online and you're assigned a time slot to turn up. When I went during the free day there was hardly any wait. I would save the money and go on the free day. Just be sure to book the tickets online in advance (4 days before) or you'll risk them selling out. Cheers, Ash

May 19, 2019 at 3:33 pmTeam MemberAshHi Terry, As your hotel is quite far out and this isn't a trip I've done I'm having a hard time coming up with the exact path in my mind... I've had to consult Google Maps for this and it looks like your best bet would be to get the bus to Plaça Catalunya and then from here take the R1 train to Mataro. I would grab the Aerobus to Plaça Catalunya though (not listed in Google as it's a private company) because it's much faster. From the Mataro train station it's about a 10 minute walk. Cheers, Ash

April 2, 2019 at 8:21 amTeam MemberAshHi Jo, I would allocated 60-90 minutes for Park Guell, and from here you can walk down to the Vallcarca metro station... taking the green line to Liceu (right outside Plaça Reial) should only take about 25 minutes in total :) Ash

March 12, 2019 at 1:21 pmTeam MemberAshHi Sheila, I would walk up to Sants Estacio and take one of the trains (R2 or R2S) to Passeig de Gracia and from here it's just a 3 minute walk, easy peasy :) As for taxis, there's a late night surcharge but in general you'll find Barcelona taxis to be quite modest in price compared to other European cities. January 10, 2019 at 8:40 amTeam MemberAshHi Peter, To get to Plaça Catalunya looks like the best bet is to walk a couple minutes to the Av Tibidabo train station and then take the L7. It should only take about 20 minutes total provided you catch the train on time. These trains can be used with the Hola BCN card. Ash
