  • Barcelona Marathon: March 10th. The most important race of the Catalan capital will unfold along a 42 km route among some of the most beautiful monuments of the city.
  • La Calçotada: from November to March throughout Catalonia, calçots are traditionally eaten: these massive BBQ’d spring onions are savored with romesco sauce and grilled meat. In a cosmopolitan city like Barcelona, ​​the calçotada represents a bridge between past and present, a moment to slow down and savor the richness of Catalan culture.
  • Feast of Sant Medir: March 3rd. Gràcia neighborhood is transformed with a parade that distributes tons of sweets to participants. Perfect for kids, bring an umbrella to grab as many sweets as possible!

Spring is coming ,and there is no shortage of activities to do in Barcelona in March – in nature and outdoors.

Here are some of our recommendations:

  1. Spend a whole day between Montjuïc park and the iconic Miró Foundation
  2. Relax on one of Barcelona’s hundreds of bar terraces while sipping a caña (draught beer)
  3. Walk along the beaches of Barcelona and if you have time, get some sun
  4. Take a train from Plaza Catalunya and reach Monserrat for epic scenery
  5. Enjoy a Paella on the terrace of Ciutadella Restaurant (in front of Ciutadella Park)
